Philadelphians, your RIGHTS are being invaded!

Anyone looking for proof that any sort of technological innovation is usually met with fear and skepticism will enjoy the following post.  The poster below, “borrowed” from the national archives, or ARC, website, shows an outrageous scene with a menacing locomotive plowing its way through town.  Of particular note is the way the “face” of the engine train is made to look as though it is scowling - seemingly enjoying decimating the guy on the horse and carriage, who was apparently smacked by the dreadful Locomotive’s cow catcher. Pay for What You Weigh

I read an interesting article the other day titled, “The Obese Should Have to Pay More For Airline Tickets“, written by Newsweek. The article brings up a lot of good points about our carbon footprint, pointing out the fact that our carbon footprint is different depending on our body size. In the article the author writes, “A study concluded that the 10 pounds Americans gained on average during the 1990s required an additional 350 million gallons of fuel a year.”  350 MILLION gallons of fuel?!  Is anyone else absolutely astonished by this number?!
