A Tribute to Zima

October 10, 2008 marks the end of an era.  In a statement released last week, MillerCoors has acknowledged they have halted production of the clear malt beverage known as Zima.  According to MillerCoors’ Chief Marketing Officer, Andy England, the decision was due to weakness in the “malternative” segment and declining consumer interest.  They are encouraging distributors to latch on to America’s newest heart-attack inducing, binge drinking craze - the caffeinated, alcoholic beverage. One fateful night a few weeks ago, one of our new roomies returned to the house around 11 pm, fresh from a hard day of over-imbibing on potent potables.  After a momentary discussion on how awesome our dogs are and how we could quite possibly be “the coolest roommates ever”, he suggested we join him down the street for a nightcap at the Silver Spigot.  Not being the types to refuse any invitation involving food or drink, Butterfinger, Mounds, and I happily accepted the offer.
