This is *allegedly* a real clip of a bear at the Hiroshima Zoo in Japan named Cloud. I say allegedly because there is some controversy as to whether or not the clip is real, but I think what happened is that someone just sat there and shot the bear for awhile messing with this stick and then edited all the best parts together. In any case, enjoy! I’d also watch for this to be on the Colbert Report sometime this week since, you know, bears are the #1 threat to America

That particular version of the video is just that, a collection of the best parts of the original video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ghgg_fukbvU There is a spot or two in the original where clearly the camera is turned off and then back on, for example where the bear begins to lick his balls, but if you listen to the ambient sounds of the zoo and the people laughing and cheering the bear on, there is not break in the audio or the film for the most part. Also, in the original the bear messes up several times. While this does seem a bit too amazing to be real, you have to understand that bears are not only highly intelligent, they can be trained very effectively for entertainment oriented things. If you don’t believe me, look up a movie called The Bear from 1988. To save you effort, here is a link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Bear_(1988_film) So the point of that is, the two main actors in that full length feature films are not humans in bear suits, and not CG animation… they are real living bears that have been trained to respond to direction well enough to perform in a movie. So is it really that hard to believe a bear can twirl a stick around for a few minutes? I think not.
