It is unlawful for any person to knowingly possess less than eight ounces of marijuana. (Ord. O-2007-28 § 5, 2007; Ord. O-91-28 § 1 (part), 1991).

9.43.040 Public display, consumption, or use of marijuana.
It is unlawful for any person to openly and publicly display, consume, or use less than eight ounces of marijuana. (Ord. O-2007-28 § 6, 2007; Ord. O-91-28 § 1 (part), 1991).
This may very well be the only place in America where you are legally required to possess marijuana and brag about it in public. I never have been a huge fan of snowy, cold winters, but this mandatory possession law might just change all that.
Does June 1st work as a moving date for everyone? It looks on the map like it’s pretty close to Denver, so we should start checking Craigslist. Let me know who’s in; maybe we can all just go in on a mansion.

I can just imagine that scene:
“But, judge, you see, I visited the City of Lakewood website after getting my doctor’s recommendation for medical marijuana. It explicitly said that not only did I have to possess more than 8 ounces, but that if I chose to show it in public I HAD to consume 8 ounces or more of it. After showing a fellow patient the latest batch of Blackberry Kush I got from the dispensary, I realized I was in big trouble. This is why myself and 10 other patrons at the Lakewood Suds-n-Such were so lit up we couldn’t get the rest of our laundry out of the machines – I legally HAD to smoke it.”
