You Can Go Repack Your Bags

My first bad experience with the TSA was in Austin, TX while heading home from a holiday trip.  It was 5 am, the line was almost out the door, and I was very low on my egg McMuffin intake, so I was understandably cranky.  After waiting about 90 minutes to get to the xray machine and wand-yielding TSA official, I was suddenly pulled aside and informed my bag had to be thoroughly checked due to the presence of a “suspicious” object.  After pulling out my dirty underpants, bras, and gifts, the airport overlord finally had gotten to what they were looking for – the perfume holder sword.

Unlike most perfume holders, this crystal one has a very sharp point, which obviously makes it capable of slaying large numbers of passengers on a plane, especially when it is buried at the bottom of your bag.  After 5 seconds of inspection and a quick review of my build (and probably a mental confirmation that there was no way I would be capable of overtaking or inciting any type of melee on the aircraft), the grumpy empolyee told me I was free to “repack my bags”.  Looking at the contents of my carefully stuffed duffel bag splayed out on the table I muttered a sarcastic, “thanks so much”, and attempted to fit the pieces of this clothing and gift laden puzzle back together.

I am telling you this somewhat boring story because for the past day and a half, I have been repacking my bags.  Butterfinger has stepped up to get rid of as much as we possibly can, which means already packed boxes of computer items, wires, games, and books are now being re-opened and re-inspected for relevance.  I, too, have taken to repacking my bags, and got rid of a bunch of kitchen stuff (mostly because I know my mom has this fantastic 70s plates and bowl set I can take:) and clothes/accessories I will never, ever use again.

So that is where we are at…  Sorry this post is so short and boring, but I just wanted to give you all a quick update on the moving progress.  We still have the car (boo), but have managed to get rid of most of the larger items we were selling, so we have our fingers crossed that everything will come together by the end of the week.  I will try to post some random pictures and videos throughout the week to keep you entertained in the event I do not have much time to write.  See a lot of you soon!!
