Mobile Office – Optimized

Yesterday the framework was laid for productivity success within the confines of the VW Eurovan office, but a few key pieces to the efficiency puzzle were still missing. We still had to run the van to charge the laptops and for heat, which we knew was not fair to Grimace, and an optimal comfort level had not yet been attained. To alleviate these stresses on the van and our bodies we decided to pay a visit to a store with an excellent return policy, as our days in the mobile office at this particular location are becoming numbered. Two-hundred beans later we emerged from the well-known retail store with an Electromate 400 and his good friend, Mr. Heater.

I now sit writing this post on the back bench seat of the van, with a bag of chips beside me, and my laptop on the pop-up table placed perfectly at arm’s reach. To my right on the floor sits Mr. Heater, 1 lb. propane tank ready to unleash volcanic heat at a moment’s notice, always eager to toast us as much as possible. The Electromate 400 is on the floor to my left side and is currently charging our laptops along with my cell phone. On the shelf located behind the back bench is where our laptop bags, extra clothes, shoes, my purse, and paperwork are kept; close enough for instant access, yet far enough to be out of the way.

I am not at liberty to give away my top secret coordinates, but I will say that we are in a quiet neighborhood with an excellent wireless connection. Our only possible distraction would be if the nearby factory decided to explode or there was a multi-car pile up down the street. Out of the maybe ten cars that passed us, we have already been here a majority of the day, I would say not a single one even so much as took a second glance at our vehicle as they cruised by. The lack of sidewalks makes it nearly impossible for us to be spotted by dog walkers, and the frigid temperatures make it even less likely that a leisure walker would notice our strange presence.

On a depressing note, while we have everything set up for supreme internet capability, the company through which we have our servers is dropping the ball and we are unable to get in and rebuild at the present time. Drinks anyone?
