Lobotomy

It is late right now and I am going to catch some zzz’s for the drive up to Santa Cruz tomorrow; we are heading up to stay with a friend and check out some places to possibly move in the next month or so.  This Monday morning I would like to direct you to one of my favorite sites, NPR, to check out an article and audio commentary from Howard Dully.  When he was 12 years old, under the influence of a stepmother that did not want him, Howard was given a Lobotomy in a physicians office.  In a mere 15 minutes, his life would change forever, and his story “My Lobotomy” outlines his struggle coming to terms with his past.

  2. This is interesting. For further insight into this topic, check out the NPR podcast called “How Stuff Works” and download the program called “How Lobotomies Work.” Howard Dully is only one of the patients, or victims, who are highlighted. Walter Freeman’s “ice pick” lobotomies are discussed in depth as are some documentaries surrounding this disturbing process. As much as I hate to admit, this is SUPER entertaining!
