I listed the last of our earthly possessions on Craigslist last week as soon as I heard the news that we would need to be vacating the premises at the end of October. We pretty much have this whole thing worked out like a fine-tuned machine at this point. The first to go was an LCD screen to a guy who wanted Butterfinger to bring the screen, his laptop, and his deep cycle battery so he could show him that the screen worked in a gas station parking lot so he did not have to drive the extra 5 miles to he house. Quickly after that we delivered the washer/dryer to a wonderful younger couple; they were even kind enough to throw some extra money in for gas without us even asking (which is good because we probably would not have asked). We also returned some un-used aluminium ducting to Home Depot for store credit, since you never really know what you might need from there during a move.
Then yesterday, after we had made a vow to one another to begin working on Click2Voice non-stop until we move to get it back up and running, we got a call from a gentleman interested in our large Ikea wardrobe. Once again, we became the deliverers, dismantling, packing up the van, unloading the van, and re-constructing the 7 foot tall wooden structure in a time that would have made Nascar pit history. The guy we delivered the furniture to, a younger computer guy not unlike ourselves, was actually on some pretty heavy duty painkillers during the time of our visit, so I can only imagine what this whole whirlwind of speedy craftsmanship must have looked like to him.
While it may sound like we have sold a lot, that is not even 1/4 of our inventory, and although the items we have already sold are among the more price, we still have a long way to go before even thinking about moving to one of the most expensive places in the country. For those interested here is a list of the items we have remaining and what we have them listed for. Let me know if you have any suggestions, or if you may know someone that wants any of this stuff!!
