As most of you already know, before we moved to the new house, we did not have television for roughly a year or so. At first this was very disturbing to me, as I was still in the mindset of return from work, make dinner, become a zombie in front of the boob tube until bed, only to wake up and do it all over again. The only way to free myself from the media box’s evil clutches was to completely detach myself and find other, more constructive means, of spending time; leading to the birth of this blog you all adore so much:) It has been a hard road, this is the first year I did not see a single episode of American Idol, and I am now officially 1 season behind in House, but I have never been happier.

I have found alternative sources for news and, as a result, have become a much more informed and productive member of society, able to form my own thoughts, opinions, and ideas. Excuse me while I step down from my soap box… Ok, let’s be honest, TV itself is not the source of all evil, but I would venture to say that the people controlling TV are presently being charred by the firey depths from down under (no, not Australia). As a self-proclaimed, recovered TV-addict, I now feel I should share with you the way in which I fill my need for debauchery, cooking programs, reality TV, and medical shows, without feeding into the money-grubbing, mind alteringly satanic side of TV.
I do allow myself to watch TV now, about 3-4 hours per week - which roughly translates into 5 or so hour-long shows using the method I currently employ - only I do not sit in front of the actual cable television, digesting all the uselessly mind-numbing commercials and heavily biased nightly news clips. I watch my shows, which are carefully selected and planned as to not waste too much time, on the internet - for FREE, without interruptions.
Some of you may say, “now Startup Fiance, I do not want to be part of your law-breaking ways. I have heard about all of the kids that have gotten busted for downloading mp3’s, and we have all seen those trailers at the beginning of movies comparing watching a movie without buying or renting it to taking off in a stolen car.” Believe what you will, but I can guarantee no one is going to come knocking down your door or dragging you to court for watching last week’s episode of Top Chef. So for those of you interested, I have come across, what I consider to be, the pinnacle of free internet television and movies - OVGuide.com
I stumbled upon OV Guide through Bzz Agent, a program through which I create buzz for different products and services. I just felt that this find fit well with the blog, and I hope it will help to convince some of you to get rid of your cable television bill - who wants to pay that anyway with the cost of gas what it is now?! Let me know what you think about the site. I challenge you to try to find a show that OVGuide is not able to locate any episodes for, because I am pretty confident that this is one of the most extensive resources on the web for online video sites, plus it is human-edited, making the sites it does find generally of high quality and relevance.
If anyone is interested in learning more about becoming a Bzz Agent, let me know and I can email you an invite!
