Featured Article – Syd’s Story

This story was written by my niece, with a little guidance from my younger sister.  After the story was read to all of us in OBX I asked if it was ok to post the story on the blog, and with her permission I am now publishing the debut of this fantastic tale for your reading pleasure. Thank you Syd for making this post so easy for me, and feel free to email me more stories to be published on the site:)  So sit back, relax, and enjoy this post from this month’s featured writer – Sydney.

Haunted House

Sydney and Lindsey are very poor.  We became poor under unusual circumstances. One day our family became deathly ill. They died July 2, 2003. Sydney and Lindsey were very  sad this day  because they were abandoned horribly by their dead family. They ended up living in a haunted house in the middle of nowhere in North Carolina.

The haunted house was dark and scary.  Sydney and Lindsey were excited because now they steal! They must dig holes to go to the bathroom and use leaves to wipe. Sometimes leaves are bad because it gives them rashes on their butts. They got tired of sitting on the ground to go potty, so they stole a toilet seat with beautiful flowers on it. After being alone for so long, they lost all of their natural teeth, so they widdled wooden sharp teeth out of trees. Before they put their teeth in they pierced their ears with them. Their lips became stained with all the berries they ate.

They scavenged daily for dead carcasses and stole food from restaurants posing as needy children. They snuck into the back door of concerts to wash their hands. They took baths in the ocean every three years. They knew how to swim very well. They made shoes out of wood and put leaves inside the shoes to make them soft. Their favorite activity was gnawing on carcass bones with their sharp wooden teeth. Another way to get food was offering babies candy so they could steal them and cook them in the oven at 450 degrees until nicely browned.

Sydney and Lindsey’s clothing was almost washed away in the ocean so they had to use animal skin and leaves for clothes. They no longer attend school because they must survive in the wilderness. They used to love school but their family abandoned them in the prime of their schooling. One day they met a girl named Rongni and she became part of their family. Her family was killed with the same illness theirs was on July 5, 2003. They made Rongni clothes, teeth, and pierced her ears as well. She especially liked to eat dead possum with maggots.

Over time they developed blubber because they needed to adapt to their environment. When they would go to the concerts to wash their hands, they made the concert flood. The Jonas Brothers were giving the concert and were swept away but lived. The three girls enjoyed sneaking in houses and turning on the television to watch it.  They would turn it on quietly, close all the bedroom doors, and sit close to watch ANIMAL PLANET.  Do you know why they liked ANIMAL PLANET? Because they could learn how to scavenge more and feed their brains full of carcasses. Also, they watched the Food Network to see what restaurants were making so they could steal.

Tiger Lives in Haunted House

They got their pet tiger when they visited the jungle in Africa and his name is Rock.  Rock protected the girls from the cops and other crazy people from attacking and stealing their goods.  Even though they had a tiger, they still needed extra protection.  They decided to drive to Washington D.C. after stealing a pink car. They made special potion to make them invisible to take bombs from the White House and explode them against their enemies.

Back at their compound, the girls keep getting attacked by wild orange flowers. The flowers ate their hands and they were forced to make new hands from soft pretzels. On holidays they would go to farms and steal fruits, vegetables, chickens and a cow.  They would take them home and cook them at 350 degrees. Their special knife skills came in handy when killing the animals on the farm.  They were so skilled that they could throw a knife and kill a fly.

One day in a bad winter storm, Sydney got sick. They thought it was the illness that their family died from, but it was only a small cold. After a few days, Sydney got better and she acquired new skills while being sickly.  She now could run at the speed of lightning which helped the girls steal.

In the end Lindsey and Sydney become rich and found out they were adopted and they found their real family and got new clothing and new hair and makeup and teeth and live in a beach house with their family.

I think the last page was missing on this. You have to ask Syd, but I think they all found a new family and got rich and lived happily ever after (or something like that).

9:30 am – Story has been updated to include final paragraph – thanks Unkle Spike!

  3. Lindsey says:

Oh boy you found the last paragraph! I have to say that the picture of the haunted house really interprets what Sydney was trying to convey. My favorite part is having great knife skills.

  4. Jess says:

    hahahahahahahahahaha.

I enjoy the multiple uses for leaves. Greatly.

There are so many great lines in this story.. but this just sounded like a young mando line… “Their favorite activity was gnawing on carcass bones with their sharp wooden teeth” and then followed by a Syd original.. “Another way to get food was offering babies candy so they could steal them and cook them in the oven at 450 degrees until nicely browned.” Love it!

    Watch out Stephen King!!
