Actually, David, it’s not fake, but the “explanation” provided is completely made up. The guy is actually in Toronto, Canada, not San Francisco. Here’s a little article about him:

It’s such an obvious fake, and it’s stupid to boot. It’s the same principle as Homer Simpson (who in fact parodies this in one of the episodes), it exploits everyone’s desire to have a very-low-social-status person to laugh at. People want to believe it, because it soothes their egos. Same reason almost every sitcom has a very nerdy character. Don’t you see how you’re being played? Or are you part of the scam?

I totally believe that this clip is genuine.
On a side note: You should have seen the meth-head that asked me out last Friday. I felt bad so I gave him my number; he pulled the I’m-calling-you-right-now card to ensure accuracy, so I wasn’t left much of a choice. I said I would go out with him next Tuesday. (I agreed to a date and time, wtf is my problem?) So, if after he arises from his meth-haze, he remembers; I’ll forward you the voicemail if it’s good for a chuckle. (For your personal enjoyment, of course…I don’t publicly exploit people, especially crack-heads)
I’m telling you, put me in a room with 35 normal guys and 1 meth-head, the meth-head is sure to come running.
