Mr. Michael Vick, speaking from the vantage point of someone your own age, you had your entire life and career ahead of you. From what I have read about you, it seems you had a rather rough childhood, being part of a financially disadvantaged family and growing up in a public housing project. I imagine you filtered much of your discontent and struggles into your football career because you completed high school as an accomplished football player, and went on to play ball at Virginia Tech on a full scholarship. After two years at Virginia Tech you entered the NFL draft as the number one pick of the 2001 season and selected by the Atlanta Falcons.
It is despicable enough that you were profiting from the violence of forcing two dogs to tear one another apart, but it is incomprehensibly worse that you took part in the violence by taking it upon yourself to end the lives of those dogs you deemed unfit to fight. As a dog owner, my heart aches when I think of what these dogs had to endure at the hands of you and your cronies. As a pit bull owner, I am saddened by your abuse and exaggeration of their inherent characteristic traits of strength, intelligence, and willingness to please their owners. As a human being, I am ashamed that we share the same oxygen.
All those dogs ever wanted to do was make you happy, and you (and others) trained them to believe that aggressiveness and stregnth were desirable characteristics. You used them to fill your perverse want for violence by forcing them to fight, and torturing those that did not live to your ideal. I do not care what people may have told you in high school, or what your NFL fans lead you to believe, you are not God, and you have no right to take life from another living being. So please, wipe that shit eating grin off your face and take responsibility for your actions.
I think suspending you from the NFL is a good start in making you understand how vile and disgusting of a person you are. Plus, you seem to lack intelligence and compassion (I personally was never that impressed with you as a quarterback, but that is a matter of opinion), so good luck finding a new career. I am hoping that your indeterminate suspension from football extends for your entire lifetime, and is followed by some long-overdue prison time. Maybe you should start working on your own wrestling skills, because it is going to be awfully hard to use your quarterback run when you are cornered in a cell by fellow animal lovers.
All of the money you received as a signing bonus should be donated to animal shelters and pet rescue organizations, maybe we could even set up a system for you to continue to pay these groups for the remainder of your overrated existence. We can not save the lives that were ruined by Bad Newz Kennels, but we could, at the very least, use that money to help other animals endangered by dogfighting and abusive owners. There really is no excuse for animal abuse, and I am glad that this case has put a spotlight on the issue of dogfighting and animal cruelty.
Hug your pets:)
