Homeless Chic

Ok… so it may be a tad bit of an exaggeration that Butterfinger and I are currently sporting the fall line for ‘Homeless Chic’, but it just sounds so much better than ‘Startup Sportswear’ or ‘Budget Couture’. I actually really enjoy hunting for bargains, and prefer to buy clothing at Target. What I hate is that before I even decide to make a purchase, I will add up in my head how many burritos a shirt is worth, or the number of tuna cans a pair of shoes are equivalent to. This type of mathematical logic always results in leaving the store with the bare necessities, and is the main reason why the majority of the outfits I wear date by to my college days and Butterfinger’s look is from the same era. Zebra Spider

After I arrive home from work every day, I make my way to our mailbox to check the damage. Our mailbox fits seamlessly with the house’s decor and is a simple black mailbox nailed to an untreated 2×4, held into its white utility bucket stand with hardened gray cement. While I know most of the much loathed black box’s contents will be bills or credit card offers, I am always excited for my People magazines on Friday afternoons, and the assortment of free samples that arrive bi-weekly. I still like to hold on to the belief that one day my publisher’s clearinghouse winning entry will pass through the metal junk receptacle, and accordingly, I collect the United States Postal Service’s offerings on a daily basis.
